High-quality shampoo for greasy hair

Why Hair Gets Greasy

There are many causes of course: from hormonal imbalance to stress, poor diet or using the wrong hair products. Care for greasy hair isn't complicated, you just need to know the right shampoos, hair masks and scalp care. Greasy hair is also lank, difficult to style, and sticks together in strands which does not add to the beauty of anyone.

With an oily scalp, dandruff often appears, and you can also suffer from itchiness. Shampoos against itching containing vitamin E are ideal as they have soothing effects.

How Should You Wash Greasy Hair

The basis is a quality shampoo for greasy hair. Start by washing your scalp in circular motions, do not press or use your fingernails, only the tips of your fingers. Then continue shampooing in lengths and rinse with lukewarm or almost cold water after washing twice. It helps close the pores on your skin and it won't get as greasy. Always choose mild shampoos designed specifically for greasy hair that are not dehydrating, non-irritating and soothing.

Exfoliation for an oily scalp

Try Regular Exfoliation

A scalp exfoliator also works for an oily scalp as it removes impurities and styling product residues. Use once or twice a week as needed. Apply it to your scalp, massage in gently, and wash as usual.

Testing Shampoos for Greasy Hair

L’Oreal Professionel Serie Expert Scalp Advanced

What I liked the most: It eliminates scalp itchiness, has a light gel formula, pleasant fragrance and leaves a fresh feeling of well washed hair, refillable shampoo option.

Advantages: L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Scalp Advanced is a great combination if you have greasy hair and also suffer from an itchy scalp. It extends the washing time by up to two days, but of course it depends on the type of hair and scalp. At the same time, you will feel you have a beautifully clean head and the next day, when it would normally itch, nothing like that will happen. Plus, I found my hair to be beautifully shiny after washing as well.

Disadvantages: None that I could find.

Kérastase Specifique Bain Divalent

What I liked the most: It works perfectly where it should - on the scalp. In the lengths, on the other hand, it nourishes, which is a great combination for coloured, damaged or dehydrated long hair.

Advantages: The best shampoo for greasy hair that I have tested. It suited me in every way. After washing, my hair was fluffy and shiny, and did not need washing again for 3 days. Kérastase Specifique Bain Divalent also cleanses the scalp deeply, limiting dandruff. In my opinion, the entire Kérastase Specifique Divalent line works great!

Disadvantages: I haven't found any. The price is not exactly low, but if the product works, the investment is simply worth it.

Bioderma Nodé G

What I liked the most: Bioderma Nodé G is a gentle shampoo with a pleasant fragrance which adds volume and shine. Sensitive scalps will love it and it will last quite a long time.

Advantages: A quality shampoo for greasy hair that the whole family can use in peace. It gave my fine and highlighted hair lightness and volume at the same time after washing and blow drying, and worked great for my daughter whose natural hair gets greasy the day after washing. When using Bioderma Nodé G, washing twice a week was enough. As my daughter stated - a miracle!

Disadvantages: You need to get used to it producing just a little lather. But that's only a tiny disadvantage.

Alfaparf Milano Semi Di Lino Scalp Rebalance

What I liked the most: A shampoo that perfectly manages an oily scalp, soothes irritation while not weighing hair down. Alfaparf Milano Semi Di Lino Scalp Rebalance deals not only with excessive oil, but also unpleasant symptoms such as itching or dandruff.

Advantages: After the first use I could feel the difference, my scalp was fresh, my hair was less greasy, and surprisingly, I didn't need to wash it as often. The shampoo has a nice consistency, easy to apply, lathers well and leaves hair beautifully light but nourished at the same time. I also give plus points for the subtle fragrance, which is not distracting but refreshing. And if you fall in love with it, you can get a big pack!

Disadvantages: An absolutely divine shampoo. Some may find the price a bit high, but I'm happy to pay extra for the quality.

Moroccanoil Scalp Balancing Shampoo

What I liked the most: A multifunctional shampoo that tackles greasiness, irritated skin, dandruff and redness. It also nourishes hair, which is a great combination.

Advantages: Moroccanoil Scalp Balancing Shampoo really adds balance to your scalp after just a few uses. After washing, my hair stayed clean and I didn't wash it again until four days later (admittedly, there was one morning treatment with Moroccanoil Dry for blonde hair dry shampoo), but my scalp wasn't itchy at all, and I even managed to wear my hair loose for 2 days! I got a large amount of extra growth as well, which probably means a healed scalp. Awesome!

Disadvantages: I didn't find any major ones.
