Pyjamas, an eye mask and perfume. That’s the new sleep routine according to TikTok! Is it just another viral fad that nobody will remember in half a year, or should you really reevaluate your regular habits? Come and find out.

Bedtime Perfumes as a Trend

We won’t surprise you – the idea of a “fragrance for a better night’s sleep” was not discovered by Gen Z or even famous TikTokers. It’s been with us for quite a few years now and even the ancient Egyptians used the fragrance of myrrh to help with their sweet dreams. And that’s not to mention the many celebrities who have lauded this method over the course of the last century. Now, however, bedtime perfumes are making a big comeback and there are hundreds of thousands of posts with hashtags like #perfumesforbedtime. But why?

New evening must-haves

Time to Drink It All In

We can imagine what you must be thinking. Perfumes aren’t exactly cheap, and we usually use them to make an impression on others. So why splash some on ourselves before getting under the covers? Try to look at it in another way. It can become part of your evening routine that helps you calm down and induce sleep faster. Plus, at a time where nothing and nobody is distracting you (in the best case), you can finally fully perceive and unveil a perfume and its components and how they change and develop. That is if you aren’t one of those lucky ones who fall asleep as soon as they close their eyes.

Close your eyes and breathe it in

And one more interesting tip: you can also involve your partner in your new routine and choose perhaps a unisex perfume you can use together. If perchance you will be sleeping without each other and you smell “your” fragrance, you just might very well sleep better and fall asleep more easily.

Bedtime Perfume Rules

Ultimately it seems as though “bedtime perfumes” are at least worth a try, don’t you think? But before you immerse yourself in this trend, choose carefully which fragrance you’ll be taking to bed with you. The magic probably won’t work if you use too heavy and intensive a fragrance on yourself and your bedroom. Instead, try a perfume that brings to mind a gentle breeze or freshly-washed laundry, simply something light and non-intrusive.

Apply bedtime perfumes to your pulse points, like you usually do, and feel free to add another splash on your pillow and sheets.

Get in the Mood for Sleep

This is all about your sleep, and the most important thing is that you feel good with the fragrance. Even though professional studies examine the influence of various components on sleep, perfumes are still an individual matter. If you would, nevertheless, like a bit of a guide, these are the components that could help you conjure up a good night’s sleep.

  • Jasmine

Many types of jasmine blossom in the evening and maybe that’s why its fragrance is so popular when falling asleep. It can calm your mind and banish stress, and even though it’s seductive and sensual, it’s not “over the top”.
