What is tape and when do you use it?
Tape is a physiotherapeutic tool designed especially for athletes, which helps to strap and heal strained muscles. It is basically divided into two types: strapping tape and kinesiotape (kinesiology tape, KT tape). How do they differ from each other?
- Strapping tape is a strong adhesive tape that is not flexible and is used to strap the affected area firmly in place. It works in a similar way to braces, i.e. more to help deal with an existing injury – but unlike braces, you can exercise whilst wearing the tape.
- Kinetic tape, on the other hand, is more flexible and also allows movement. When tape is used correctly (in the right direction), it unites with the skin and activates the muscles better, engaging them in movement whilst protecting the joints. It is most commonly used to tape the shoulder, knee or wrist in the event of mild aches and pains.
The tape is applied to the skin at the site of the pain, but the specific location and direction of the tape is very important. You can do the taping yourself at home, but you must know how to do it. What are braces and when do we use them?
A brace is a medical device designed to reinforce certain parts of the body – usually joints – after an accident, injury or strain. It holds joints and muscles in a fixed position and provides strong mechanical support to contribute towards comfort and healing. Unlike supports, braces don’t work as prevention, but as part of treatment or rehabilitation. It is best to get a brace after consulting a doctor or physiotherapist.

What are supports and when do we use them?
Supports help to warm, firm and support joints during sports for the prevention of injury or as support for the initial symptoms of diseases of the joints. They are made of neoprene (or similar materials). in which you can move the joint. Unlike a brace, which fixes the joint 100% in place.
