A few years ago, you would never have guessed that a retro memory would become a global phenomena. Claw clips saw their first big breakthrough in the 90s, then disappeared into thin air for two decades. They may have disappeared from shops and fashion magazines, but there was still at least one hair claw clip that could always be found in every household – at least as an accessory for clipping hair up in the shower.

But then, claw clips began to fill shop stands once again, and flooded all social networks. They knocked the long popular material hair bands or scrunchies (another thing of the 90s by the way) off the top spot. If you follow beauty influencers, you will surely agree that claw clips of various sizes and designs can be found on each one of them.

So, grab a claw clip (even a 20 year old one), watch our video, and have a claw clip hairstyle like an Instagram influencer!

How to Make an Easy Tangled Bun

  1. If you have time, lightly curl your hair with curling tongs beforehand. Then, comb your hair thoroughly with a comb or brush it with a paddle brush.
  2. Separate two thin strands on the sides to line your face.
  3. Brush the rest of your hair back with your hands as if you were making a classic ponytail. The difference is just that you don’t tie it with a hair tie
  4. Grab the ponytail from the bottom with one hand so that the back of your hand faces your neck and the ponytail is in your palm between your thumb and index finger.
  5. Then twist the hand with the hair once to make a hair “roll”. Clamp it in the middle with a claw clip that is big and strong enough. Style the resulting bun with your fingers.
  6. At the end, set the claw clip hairstyle lightly with hairspray

  3. Comb your hair back and twist the whole strand upwards in a spiral. Style any hair which isn’t touching your head into a snail shaped bun. Under the bun, fix it to your head with a claw clip.
  4. Pull on the top part of your hair (the bun) that is sticking out above the claw clip with your fingers to create the right messy look.
  5. At the end, set the whole hairstyle lightly with hairspray.

How to Make a Fake Ponytail with a Claw Clip

  1. If your hair is straight, curl it up with curling tongs. Your hairstyle will look more festive. Next, comb your hair thoroughly with a comb or brush it with a paddle brush.
  2. Separate two thin strands on the sides to line your face.
  3. Separate medium-thick strands from each side above your ears, lead them back to the nape of your neck and cross them once.
  4. Lead the strand, which will be underneath after crossing, upwards. Clamp the spot where the strands meet with a small claw clip. Use your fingers to slightly stretch the lengths that fall loosely down so that they have more volume at the claw clip.
  5. To finish, set the whole hairstyle with a special hairspray for shine.
