Protect your baby’s sensitive skin from nappy rash by using all the available products including baby bath, baby powder or nappy rash ointment, and deal with irritated skin as soon as possible.
Nappy rash, or diaper dermatitis, can make your baby really upset. Irritation on the bottom often occurs as a result of friction in the delicate skin folds. Sometimes the culprit are reusable cloth nappies, diarrhoea or an allergic reaction to the nappy itself or to a cream.
Deal with bum rash as soon as you notice it. When at home, use a nappy cream, powder or ointment. When you’re travelling, you can use baby wipes to clean and treat the moist areas on your baby’s bottom, wherever you are.
Nappy rash is best treated with a cream or an ointment containing zinc, panthenol, and vitamins E and D. These will give instant relief to the affected area and reduce skin redness. As soon as the rash disappears, start using a rash cream as a precaution. Make sure to only apply it to completely dry skin and always use a small amount.
Baby powder instantly absorbs moisture, so it’s not an ideal product to use on your baby’s bum. The combination of sweat and powder creates clumps which irritate the skin even more. So when should you use baby powder? It’s wonderful on rash under the chest area, between the toes, on the inner thighs or in the armpits.
Spray is a wonderful alternative to nappy creams and ointments. Its contactless application prevents the transfer of bacteria from your hands to the area affected by nappy rash.
