During the post-war baby boom in Germany around 1956, babies weren’t the only ones being born – a brand called NUK also came to life. Breastfeeding was seen as unfashionable at the time, so babies were commonly bottle-fed. Dentists Prof. Dr. Balters and Dr. Müller noticed that, unlike breastfed babies, bottle-fed babies had frequent speech defects and dental issues. That’s why they developed the first asymmetrical teat shaped like a mother’s nipple, which does not hinder the healthy development of a baby’s oral cavity.
Gradually, the brand expanded its range to include anatomically shaped dummies, the NUK bottle with a wide neck and the first disposable teat. To this day, new products are being developed in collaboration with experts. In 2016, the company even earned the prestigious German “Brand of the Century” award in the dummy category, further proving the high quality of NUK products.
The award-winning NUK dummies aren’t the only popular baby products. Teats are very much sought after for their natural shape, which does not harm the natural development of a baby’s mouth. Today, NUK also offers food warmers, milk pumps or silicone freezer moulds. All of the products are always made with the needs, health and future of your little ones in mind.
