Pores are essential to your skin because they’re part of its natural protective, hydrating and nourishing system, plus they allow your skin to breathe. However, if your pores become enlarged due to various negative factors, they look quite unsightly. Discover the causes of enlarged pores and find out which product are effective so that your skin can stay healthy on the inside and gorgeous on the outside.
Why do pores get larger?
The size of our pores comes down to genetics, but things like impurities, stress and loss of collagen in the skin can make them larger or cause clogged pores and change the texture of our skin. Large pores often start with excessive sebum production. If your sebaceous glands work too well, oil starts collecting in your pores along with impurities and dead skin cells, causing clogging and gradual widening so that more oil can come through. Enlarged pores are then full of impurities that often oxidise and result in blackheads, pimples and inflammation.
Enlarged pores can show up anywhere on the skin, but they most commonly occur on the cheeks, the nose or the chin.
