The magic of makeup lies in its simplicity - sometimes all it takes is a slight change and your whole face is literally transformed. This is doubly true with a lip pencil, where every millimetre plays a big part. Let's try out two spectacular looks where a simple lip pencil shines.

Whether your lips are thin or full, we all wish they were a little bigger. And that's where perhaps the most talked-about beauty product helps - a lip liner in a nude shade. For many women, it's an extra step they'd like to skip, but that would be a shame.

The right nude

The first step is to choose a nude colour that will look completely natural on your lips. But how does one know? Ideally, look closely at your own lips - they are naturally coloured. For most people in Europe, it's a neutral to cool beige, but for some people, nude will be a shade of purple or a warmer brown.

Perfect shapes

And now you can start experimenting with the perfect shape. With a nude lip pencil, you don't have to worry about overdoing it, especially on the upper lip, which is usually smaller. For the lower lip, start with contouring from the centre and then follow the line naturally along the lip line. This makes the lips appear visually larger without looking artificial.

Just the outline, or the whole lips?

You can either use the lip pencil to frame just the outer edges of your lips, or you can go from the ground up and use the pencil as a base for lipstick or gloss. If the colour is truly nude, I recommend option B, i.e. to emphasise the entire lip area.

More contrast? Not a problem!

A nude lip pencil is great for everyday wear. But what if you want something more without going for a “night out” red? Try a dark brown! A darker contour and a lighter centre - this is a more of a 90s trend, but even today a chocolate lip can look very fresh. Here I recommend paying more attention to the shape of the contour, after all the colour stands out more. But you don't have to be afraid of it - earthy colours will always have your back.

Now you know that sometimes even a seemingly unnecessary item in your makeup kit can be the queen of the whole look. So don't be afraid to experiment and find new shapes and combinations for yourself. After all, your makeup is all about you and your individuality.
