Innovative technology for permanent hair removal
Thanks to the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology, you can have smooth legs (and more!) all year round. Braun Silk Expert IPL epilators use intense pulsed light, which the device sends under the surface of your skin to achieve permanent hair removal. With the help of its thermal properties, it then eliminates hairs effectively and painlessly; they simply fall out, along with the root. With regular use, you can also prevent them from growing back. It is ideal for removing hair from your underarms, arms or intimate areas.
How does IPL technology work?
The epilator creates intense pulsed light which is sent to the skin on a specific wavelength. As the hair and root are irradiated, their temperature increases so much that their growth structures are damaged and the hair falls out. These tools can feature various light intensity levels, two gentle modes and an integrated SensoAdapt sensor, which scans various skin tones and adapts the light intensity to the specific one. As a result, they ensure that hair removal is both safe and efficient.
The benefits of intense pulsed light
The main benefit is permanent and almost painless hair removal which can be performed at home. Unlike wax strips or epilators, you barely feel the light pulses. What’s more, this technology is much gentler on your skin than regular shaving or epilation creams since it doesn’t involve the physical exfoliation of your skin – leaving it less irritated. Lastly, in the long term it works out cheaper.
Although the initial outlay is higher, after a few months it definitely pays for itself. Regularly buying high-quality, gentle shavers, replacement heads or wax strips doesn’t come cheap.
What you need to know
The key to a successful treatment is the contrast between your skin colour and hairs. The greater the colour difference, the better the results you’ll be able to achieve. The IPL technology is therefore most effective on darker hair and lighter skin. Unfortunately, this kind of technology won’t work at all on fair hair.
For long-lasting success, you may sometimes need to repeat the treatment several times since hairs are in varying stages of growth and you need to irradiate all of them. It’s also important to get into a regular routine (at least once every 3 months) to prevent hairs from growing back.
