Bathroom scales: Keep your weight under control
A device that many people hate: weighing scales. They often show numbers we don’t want to see. They can often spoil our mood too. Learn to think of your bathroom scales as a tool that shows you data to work with – not your personal value.
What affects your weight
A person’s weight fluctuates from day to day because of several factors, including:
- the amount of food eaten the previous day and therefore the weight of the food in our digestive tract
- the state of our digestion (constipation can mess with the number on display from day to day without you actually gaining weight)
- the amount of salt consumed: higher amounts cause water retention in the body
- in women also the stage of their menstrual cycle
- ...and a whole host of other factors
Come and choose smart digital scales at Notino that will ease your journey to the healthiest version of yourself, with the ideal weight and body composition.
Which are the best bathroom scales?
There are several different types of bathroom scales that differ in both design and functionality. Nowadays, they are mostly digital body weight scales. These scales have an electronic display that shows your body weight. Digital scales typically use sensors that measure electrical resistance or pressure to determine weight. Some digital scales are referred to as smart scales – these also have other advanced features such as measuring body fat percentage, muscle mass or hydration.
- Classic digital scales – a simple device with just one goal: to show you on the display the weight of the person standing on it
- Smart scales – body weight scales with measurements of fat, muscle and water; that is, a device into which you’ve already entered the data of the person weighing themselves on the scale so that it can determine the composition of their body as accurately as possible; they are personal diagnostic scales
- Smart scales with an app – some bathroom scales are also sold together with a mobile or web app, where you can track your progress directly on your phone or computer; after each weigh-in, the data is sent to the app and so you don’t have to worry about anything and have the data clearly presented in tables and graphs on your phone
Most of these scales have a maximum capacity of 120 kg; however, if you need a scale with a higher capacity, all is not lost. Scales up to 200 kg and weighing scales up to 250 kg are available amongst our range of scales.
Why get bathroom scales for your home?
Even though you can find scales in various places, such as gyms, etc., it is best to have scales at home. There are 4 main reasons for this:
- Tracking weight – regular weight measurement allows you to monitor changes in your weight and keep track of your progress for targeted weight loss, weight maintenance or muscle gain.
- Motivation and self-awareness – having your own scales at home can keep you motivated and aware of your weight. Seeing specific numbers can encourage you to achieve your health goals and give you a sense of control over your body.
- Health check – your weight is an important indicator of your health. With regular weight measurements, you can detect unwanted changes in your weight, which can signal potential health problems such as unwanted weight loss or gain. If you experience a sudden and unexplained change in your weight, you may choose to speak to your doctor about this.
- Healthy lifestyle – bathroom scales can serve as a reminder and support for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Measuring yourself regularly can remind you to take care of your body and motivate you to follow healthy eating and exercise habits.
How to use scales at home
- Always weigh yourself in the morning at the same time, on an empty stomach, after going to the toilet.
- Use your bathroom scales on a level and stable surface to minimise potential errors.
- The accuracy of the measurement can also be affected by the location of the scales in the room, so place them on a hard floor free of draughts or temperature fluctuations.
