Perineum massage during pregnancy – instructions
Perineum massage before childbirth uses a method of tightening the skin and muscle between the vagina and the anus on a regular basis. A thorough care during pregnancy reduces the risk of a tear and the necessity of a cut during labour. So how do you massage the perineum correctly?
- Start massaging your perineum approximately 6 weeks before your term.
- Wash your hands carefully and apply a few drops of the perineum oil to your fingertips.
- Massage the skin between your vagina and anus using a gentle pressure.
- Gently insert your thumbs about 2 to 4cm into your vagina and run them from side to side while pressing the walls of the vagina gently forward and down towards the anus.
- Perform the massage at least 4 times a week for 5 to 10 minutes, ideally after taking a bath or a shower while your skin is still warm and supple.
- With every massage, gently increase the pressure on the perineum until you feel a slight tingling.
- Perineum massage should never be painful.
Perineum massage oil is a handy product to help you prepare your skin for childbirth. Your skin deserves the best care so it can stay youthful and gorgeous!
