Close your eyes and imagine yourself by the fire... How do you feel? Do you feel a sense of peace and tranquility? And this is how it has been since ancient times with a burning fire and the soft light it spreads around it. According to the shaman, fire protects us, gives us strength, burns everything old and bad. If you are the lucky owners of a fireplace, immerse yourself in it. And by all means, replenish your supply of candles! The more the merrier.

What is a fire capable of? 

Despite evolution, this is what has been left over from the days of living in caves. An open fire meant greater security. The flickering light of fire - and nowadays candles - gives us a strange sense of peace. Moreover, it has the magical power to completely "halt" us, to draw us into the present moment, promoting intimacy and an atmosphere of closeness.  

Our consciousness moves from complete alertness to an alpha level of flow, a state of relaxation and rest, as we watch the flame of a candle or fire. Once you light a candle, something changes. Space is created for an inner calming, regeneration, stress and anxiety melts away. Looking into a flame also induces a meditative state. 

What about the scent of candles? 

When you put your money on a scented candle, you can easily play around with the mood. Citrus energises, lavender soothes, woody notes are grounding and give you a sense of security. At Advent time, you can also bank on love-filled compositions or the authentic scent of Christmas candy. You'll enhance the warmth of your hearth, which can be more warming than a cuddly blanket.
