Enjoy perfectly clear and radiant skin in harmony with nature! Facial bar soaps are specifically designed for cleansing the skin and, unlike traditional soap, they usually do not contain sulphates, artificial colours or preservatives. On the contrary, they are packed with quality natural oils, herbs or nurturing clays and target various imperfections such as acne, dry skin or premature skin ageing.
What’s more, facial cleansing using special bar soaps is suitable for all skin types and for women and men of all ages; you just need to choose the best face soap for your skin’s needs.
The benefits of a bar soap for your face
- The gentle composition of a face soap does not disturb the skin’s natural pH; on the contrary, it restores the skin’s protective barrier and soothes it.
- It removes impurities from deep within the pores and brightens up your skin.
- After washing, your skin is beautifully hydrated and fresh, with no unpleasant tension or dryness.
- It nourishes and cares for the skin and its active ingredients target various skin problems.
- It usually does not contain sulphates (foaming agents), artificial colours or preservatives.
- A facial bar soap is the ideal companion for cleansing your skin on your travels; it fits easily into any backpack or handbag, won’t spill, and you don’t have to worry about taking liquids on the plane.
- Unlike conventional skin cleansing products, the soap does not usually have plastic packaging, but instead uses environment-friendly packaging.
Syndet, facial bar soap or regular soap – what’s the difference?
Facial bar soap is known by many names. You may have come across face soap, acne cleansing bars or facial bar soap.
Another one you may have heard of is syndet (short for synthetic detergent), which refers to a soap bar or liquid soap without alkaline ingredients or regular soap. Traditional soap has a higher pH than our skin and can dry and tighten it. Syndet, on the other hand, has a pH of 5.5, the same as our skin, and is specially designed to wash sensitive skin, which it does not irritate, instead leaving it moisturised and soft to the touch. Most face soaps are therefore actually syndet, but it is always better to read the information directly from the manufacturer.
How to choose a facial cleansing soap
Facial soap bars contain a variety of nourishing oils, active ingredients and vitamins that help fight skin imperfections effectively, every time you cleanse. All you need to do is choose what suits your skin best.
Acne soap
Acne soap contains active ingredients that cleanse the skin deeply, tighten pores and prevent the formation of more spots and sebum production and stop impurities from settling. The active ingredients in these soaps include:
- CBD – reduces sebum production and acts as a powerful antioxidant.
- Dead Sea mud – regenerates the cellular structure of the skin and cleanses the skin deeply.
- Tea tree – accelerates skin regeneration after acne and soothes the skin.
- Activated black charcoal – black soap for acne perfectly binds impurities and cleanses the skin deep down.
- Moroccan clay – handles blackheads and greasy skin with ease.
- Jojoba oil – helps reduce sebum and moisturises the skin intensely.
Facial exfoliating soap
Exfoliating soaps help rid the skin of dead skin cells and impurities. They also have cleansing and detoxifying properties that soften and regenerate the skin, making them suitable for fighting acne. Natural facial soap can contain sea salt, sugar, crushed grape seeds, apricot kernels or cinnamon as an exfoliating ingredient, and is also enriched with other ingredients such as:
- Kaolin clay – or white clay – rids the skin of dead skin cells.
- Green clay – absorbs impurities from the skin and softens it.
- Aloe vera – helps restore collagen production and soothes the skin.
- Green tea – mattifies the skin and helps reduce puffiness.

Soap for dry and sensitive skin
Soaps for sensitive skin cleanse it gently without unwanted irritation or redness. Thanks to their gentle composition, they have harmonising and relaxing effects. Soaps for sensitive skin may contain:
- Pink clay – a mixture of white and red clay that is rich in minerals and actively strengthens, nourishes and refreshes the skin.
- Argan oil – fights the signs of ageing, moisturises and regenerates the skin.
- Vitamin E – helps slow down skin ageing and nourishes it.
- Rose oil – firms the skin and prevents wrinkles.
- Lavender oil – is ideal for dry, allergy-prone and eczema-prone skin, soothing and hydrating it.
How to use face soap correctly
Washing your face with soap is really quick and easy:
- Wet your favourite bar soap and lather up in your hands.
- Using the soap, massage the lather into the skin in circular motions, ideally from the centre of the face outwards. Avoid contact with the eyes whilst doing so.
- Then rinse your face with lukewarm water and gently pat your skin dry.
- You can use cleansing soap regularly and it is also suitable for cleaning the skin after removing makeup.
- Use exfoliating soaps no more than twice a week.
- At first, use black face soap with activated charcoal only twice a week; gradually, get your skin adjusted to its ingredients, then you can use it in the morning and evening.
