TheBalm was founded by Marissa Shipman who one day realised that she wanted to wake up every day knowing that she loves what she does. And because beauty was already her obsession and she struggled to find cosmetics that would fit her needs perfectly, she decided to make a radical move. In 2004 she quit her job, came up with a business plan and employed chemists to help her develop new formulas. Before long, the first theBalm products were created.
