Do you long for an unconventional yet romantic wedding? Then a boho-style wedding is the one for you! A boho hairstyle and boho makeup will accentuate your natural beauty, so you won’t need to worry about not recognising yourself in the mirror. The whole look is very subtle, soft and fresh. Tempted?

The boho style is inspired by bohemian culture and the hippie movement of the 1960s. It’s typically casual and relaxed, and combines vintage pieces with modern trends. It celebrates individuality and the beauty of being unique.

Subtle wedding makeup is ideal if you’re going to have your wedding in a meadow, in the woods or in a barn. Wild flowers in your bouquet and your hair and a flowing, lacy dress are perfect for this. For your eye makeup, you can be inspired by this year’s Pantone colour of the year, peach fuzz, and opt for makeup in peach tones. It looks good on everyone. How’s it done?

How to Do Subtle Boho Makeup for a Wedding

  1. Start with perfect skin prep. Work the MAC Cosmetics Hyper Real Serumizer into it, followed by the Beauty Of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics cream with SPF. It does not flake under your foundation and does not form a white mask.
  2. Keep your complexion as natural as possible with a tinted moisturiser – the Erborian BB Cream is enough, evening out your skin tone and illuminating it. Anywhere it is needed, use concealer – the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Flawless Wear Concealer. If necessary, use a powder.
  3. The boho look is characterised by a juicy and glowing finish, so creamy products are preferable. Emphasise the apples of your cheeks with blusher – NARS Air Matte Blush – and on your cheekbones, the sides of your nose and the cupid’s bow add the Nudestix Nudies Glow highlighter
  4. Use eyeshadow from the Yves Saint Laurent Couture Mini Clutch palette in the spontini lilies shade. Highlight the crease of the eye with the darkest eyeshadow, and don’t forget a medium-dark shimmer in the centre of the lid.

5. Frame the upper lashes with brown eye pencil – the Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in brun. Blend in the eyeliner and coat your lashes with several layers of waterproof mascara – Clinique High Impact™ Waterproof Mascara.

6. For your lips, all you need is lip balm or a little lip gloss

7. Set your makeup with the Urban Decay All Nighter Ultra Glow spray. Don’t forget to give it to the person in charge of your handbag – it’s also great as a refresher during the day!

Forget about straight hair or perfect tight buns. The boho style is all about freedom.

  1. Brush your hair with a hairbrush, apply heat protection and section it.
  2. Curl the separate strands using a curler or straighteners, and alternate the direction in which you curl it so that the waves are not too uniform. When it comes to the face, always twist the strands away from the face.
  3. Then comb through the waves with your fingers and spray with hairspray. Casual wedding hairstyles need a flower in the hair – or a garland!
