Rules of layering
Creating your own unique fragrance is not the only advantage of this technique, which is now a craze among perfume enthusiasts. Layering also allows you to tailor your scent to your mood or occasion, making the cloud of scent around you last longer while giving your creative self a chance to play around a little. But this game has its own rules, which are worth following (at least at the beginning). Before you master the art and start breaking them.
Choose two or three perfumes that you want to combine, so that the result is not too much for your senses (and those of the people around you). If the fragrances share a common ingredient, there’s a good chance they will work well together. And it doesn’t matter if they come from different families. Experimenting and combining the unexpected is allowed, of course, but you may want to hold back when it comes to combining two very intense fragrances, as otherwise the result could be distracting. And once you’ve picked your favourites, start with the heavier fragrance, applying the lighter one over it – that way it also gets a chance to shine.
Summer encourages us to embrace playfulness and try new things. So go ahead and discover new combinations that are perfect for warm and sunny days!
Water and the magic of faraway lands
Imagine standing on a rocky cliff and breathing in fresh air interlaced with sea salt. That’s exactly what aquatic fragrances are like. They are the epitome of lightness, purity and a relaxing summer mood. This is what makes them the perfect partner for oriental perfumes that are heavier, more expressive, sensual, slightly mysterious and full of exotic ingredients.
