Dark circles under the eyes. A phenomenon that affects young and mature, women and men, in short, if you are a human, you probably have more or less dark pigmentation at the inner corner of your eye. We can take them as a part of life, but if we don't want to walk around showing them, luckily we can use makeup. Let's take a look at how to camouflage the sensitive area around your eyes in a natural-looking way.

We all have, to a greater or lesser extent, dark circles and sunken or too swollen lower eyelids. The skin around the eyes, which is naturally very thin, is primarily to blame, making it much easier for tiny blood vessels to shine through in blue or green. Fortunately we have helpers – foundation which will help us get rid of this nuisance. And we need to start long before make-up is applied.

Prevention and care

The delicate skin around the eyes is the most susceptible to visible signs of fatigue, but also to the first wrinkles. So step zero will always be targeted care for this sensitive area. From the age of twenty-five, I recommend incorporating eye cream or gel into your skincare routine, especially if you keep wearing makeup and removing it. Using a suitable cream with SPF all year round is, of course, a must.

Colour neutralisation

And now we can put on our make-up. The first step is to reach for a colour corrector in a shade on the opposite end of the colour spectrum. Our dark circles under the eyes are usually blue and green, so they can be cancelled out by a corrector in a warm salmon colour. Feel free to mix the right one to suit you. Please note that the product should be applied only on the tinted part of your skin, i.e. in the groove near the inner corner. This step will help prevent dark circles from shining through later in the day.

Colour correctors deal with undesirable pigmentation

Balancing skin tone

Now that we have the base, we can balance the skin tone. Use a corrector in your skin colour or slightly lighter and apply it in a small layer both on the dark circles themselves and slightly upwards towards the outer corner. Blend the edges of the product to the contours of your face to avoid making light circles around the eyes. At the same time, I recommend applying the corrector lightly around the bridge of your nose and the corners of your mouth to balance and "clean up" the entire look.

Setting

To prevent the product from running into your wrinkles, gently set it with loose powder. Be careful – it's worth investing in a quality product that has a soft texture and won't dry out the delicate skin around your eyes. Use a small brush or a powder puff to either gently press the powder into your skin or lightly brush it away. And it's done!

Subtle setting for the eye area

Dark circles under the eyes themselves have a number of causes, from facial bone structure to lifestyle to diseases of the internal organs. Our skin is usually very good at telling us that something is wrong. Whether the cause is genetic or merely situational, makeup gives us a choice of whether we show our dark circles to the world or not.
