What is arnica? A plant which has been part of traditional herbalism for centuries! Arnica, mountain arnica, mountain tobacco, leopard's bane and wolfsbane are all names that this perennial plant with noticeably yellow-and-orange blossoms goes by. Similarly to chamomile or marigold, arnica is also considered one of the strongest herbs against all kinds of ailments. Read about what effects arnica has and find out whether it is suitable for you.
Properties of arnica
Arnica ointment, tincture, oil and other products are produced mostly from the yellow blossoms of this herb as they are rich in wholesome essential oils, flavonoids, fatty acids, carotenoids and tannins. Its beneficial properties are mainly due to the active ingredient helenalin, which has a positive effect on the function of the nervous system and joints. The effects of arnica will be appreciated by athletes and people who suffer from swelling, varicose veins or tendon, joint and muscle pain.

However, stronger concentrations of arnica can cause skin irritation, so always choose professionally prepared products and follow the manufacturer’s directions for use.
