Interesting facts from the world of perfume
Perfume Fact No. 1: Ingredients
Scents can have their own temperature. Whilst ingredients such as cinnamon, coffee and vanilla are classified as warming, mint, marine notes and citrus are thought of more as cooling. Associations play a major role in this (we associate cinnamon with baking, or mint with an ice-filled cocktail), as does synaesthesia – the ability to imagine a colour beneath a scent (the dark chocolate shade of coffee versus the turquoise tones of water).
Perfume Fact No. 2: Perfume Variability
The same perfume can smell a little different on everyone – the resulting fragrance can be affected by your skin’s pH, as well as the environment. In humid, tropical areas, your perfume will be far more intense and carry further, but in a dry, cool climate, the fragrance won’t project as far, staying closer to you.
Perfume Fact No. 3: Perfume Layering
By layering, you can blend your own original fragrance. You can work with various perfumed products – from scented shower gels and scrubs to perfume oils and body mist. There are no limits to your imagination, but as a starting point, we recommend working with products that have a similar fragrance base. This way, you can gradually create your own fragrance routine based on vanilla, florals or even citrus.
Perfume Fact No. 4: Unisex Perfume
Did you know that perfumes used to be unisex in general? They gradually became more gender-focused, but unisex fragrances still have their own magic. Perfume designers try to capture a specific emotion, feeling or mood, often blending typically masculine or feminine ingredients in interesting ways.
